This monumental Tiffany Studios New York glass “Aquamarine” vase features iridescent yellow, blue, and brown marsh marigolds against an equally iridescent aquamarine ground. While the marsh marigold motif was previously used in Louis Comfort Tiffany’s Metalwork and Enameling Department, what distinguished his “Aquamarine” vases was the decision to view an above-ground flower through the lens of water, an effect achieved only through intense, innovative, and revolutionary experimentation in the field of glass.
