By François-Raoul Larche, this French Art Nouveau gilt bronze lighted sculpture, entitled “Loïe Fuller,” is the most famous of all bronzes to be made in the Art Nouveau aesthetic, representing the famous American dancer and choreographer, Loïe Fuller, performing one of her renowned scarf dances. Her flowing robes and fabrics conceal two light bulbs, which would serve to create drama and movement during its time.
