Table Lamp by Loetz with a Stunning “Peacock” Design

Phänomen (or phenomenon, in English) was a remarkable type of Loetz glass that was equal parts visually impressive, yet short-lived. Phänomen décors were characterized by variations of trailing and combed threads with colored glass and bands of metallic iridescence. This Loetz shade depicts peacock tails in iridescent cyan and lapis against a background of iridescent blue and amber. The shade is held aloft by a gilt bronze sculpture of a peacock, abstracted into just its neck and tail, with the detail of its feathers carefully chased on the base.
