New York Tiffany Studios Pair of “Saxifrage” Candlesticks

A pair of Tiffany Studios New York patinated bronze “Saxifrage” candlesticks. Tiffany drew artistic inspiration from the humblest species of meadow plants, such as the “Saxifrage” an herb which grows in the clefts of rocks. Here, the plant’s seed pods have been fashioned with great delicacy into a candle bobeche supported by a slender stalk rising from a symmetrical band of leaves that fan out to form the foot.
