New York Tiffany Studios Bronze Swing Candle Holder

This exquisite Tiffany Studios New York candle holder was crafted for the Great Cabin (the captain’s quarters) of a yacht, showcasing both functionality and artistry. Inspired by the romance of nautical adventure, Tiffany, like many of his contemporaries, designed numerous pieces with marine themes. This ingenious candle holder features a double-pivot mechanism and ball weight, allowing the candle to remain upright despite the rocking motion of the waves.A passionate sailor, Tiffany built one of the first private docks along Long Island Sound on the west side of Cold Spring Harbor in late 1901. By the summer of 1912, he owned a fleet of yachts, which his captain outfitted for races at the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club in Oyster Bay. By 1913, he had begun dredging near his residence to create a basin deep enough for large yachts to dock close to shore.
